Managing Drunk Riders: Child’s Play?

Attention is scarce; that’s the fifty bits limitation. Uber is leveraging that shortcoming in a clever way.

In an attempt to reduce the frequency with which drunk passengers, Uber is experimenting with putting kids’ toys in the backseats of its drivers’ cars:

“An intoxicated rider who is engaged in something interesting is less likely to be irritable and aiming aggression at the driver,” said Joe Sullivan, Uber’s chief security officer and a veteran of Facebook, PayPal and the US attorney’s office in northern California.
